Background: 

Natterjacks are a mens fashion retailer based in Kingston Upon Thames, Surrey. Rik built their original website while still attending university.

Project Brief: 

Natterjacks asked us to look into their existing e-commerce store and bring it more up to date with fashionable trends. They have enjoyed many years of trading comfortably online and wanted to take their website to the next level.

Our Approach: 

We wanted to give Natterjacks a site that was timeless, rather than something that would look great and on trend for a month or two then need changing again. So we concentrated on the usability of the site and how flexible their current e-commerce system was.

Results: 

We decided to rebuild their previous ‘table based’ template to bring it up to current W3C Standards. Whilst looking into this we discovered that the current site wasn’t PCI Compliant, which had to be addressed by using a payment gateway to control payments.

The client expressed to us how they wanted to cut their workload with the site, so we worked closely with their till and stock control software provider to integrate the website into their system, allowing for live updates of stock across their 4 stores and online.

The website design was simple, allowing the product photography to stand out. Natterjacks sell the leading brands in fashion with unique items that really needed to be shown off by large images and good product descriptions, which didn’t allow for too much else that would effectively become noise.

The final result was an increase in traffic on launch of about 400% which slowly tailed off to an increase of 250% in their daily individual visitors whilst decreasing their bounce rate by 25%.

The site was also featured in the Design Week website news round up which was a great honour.
