Project Brief:

9 Gough Square are a successful law firm based in London who came to us with the task of designing their autumn reception invitations for 2011. We, of course, couldn’t turn that invitation down.

Our Approach:

We focused on the autumnal season for inspiration to begin with: colour, foliage and associated imagery to dictate the tone of the invitations. 9 Gough Square’s profession of law suggested an elegance and stature that would also inform the design.

Results:

Rather than the more traditional tones of the season, the colours of 9 Gough Square were selected, with the fallen leaves being used throughout all designs of the invitations. To further the sense of austerity the invitations were printed with spot colours on uncoated card, with UV printing over the design repeating the name of the event. Silver foil was also used to highlight the firms’ logo. Although not seen, the square logo of Gough Square was used as the base for a grid system, allowing all text on the invite to be dispersed across the available space accurately.

Project Details
Background:

Games giant Atari planned to release their 50 most popular and iconic games across the whole of Europe for a whole new audience, with the release of Atari Greatest Hits: Volume 1 on the world's most popular hand-held console; the Nintendo DS.

Project Brief:

We were asked to develop artwork for the packaging of Atari Greatest Hits: Volume 1 - supplied by their US counterparts - including the box inlay, manual and the DS card label. The aim was to create Pan-European artwork that could be used across the EU, while adhering to Nintendo’s strict product and artwork guidelines.

Our Approach:

After much excitement about the 'good old classics' making a come back and various 'do you remember.....' shouts across the studio as the game list was inspected, we started working directly from templates - supplied by Nintendo - we implemented artwork and managed the task of translating the collateral to devising a structured layout that would work across all of the languages.

Results:

The resulting designs take inspiration from Atari’s rich history, featuring both original box and cabinet artwork from the 70’s and 80’s to emphasize the retro feel of a bygone gaming age. The retro graphics featured in varying degrees across the packaging giving a bright and vibrant look and feel to the design.

We couldn’t be prouder to have been involved with this project and some major Multiplayer head-to-head games of our all-time favorites!!

Project Details
Background:

Cp Cases designs and manufactures high-performance, ruggedised cases and racks used in transport, operation and storage of essential equipment for commercial and military applications worldwide.

Project Brief:

We were asked to deliver a high quality publication, offering an 'at a glance' reference and showcase of the whole CP Cases product range to Sony Broadcast, that will be placed on their intranet and submitted to Sony Japan's board.

Our Approach:

Working within the brand guidelines of CP Cases, our aim was to produce a guide that could be used as a show piece. With there being a lot of technical information we didn't want this to sacrifice the design and we worked towards a considered and clean layout with the impact of quality clear information.

Results:

Using the format of A4, a 44 perfect bound paged brochure was produced. We made bold use of the core colour blue with confident typography, lending the design to a contemporary gridded style. The products within the ranges were split into sections using a mixture of full bleed 'hero' images of the products in real life situations, and various product shot mosaics supported by strong headers. We also introduced a new typographic layout to the brand, extending the current use of their typefaces.

The front cover features a 'cover to back' design, using an angled grid that follows over the pages. The typography and keylines were then highlighted for an even more dynamic effect using a UV varnish during print. We oversaw the print production process, ensuring that the highest quality standards were observed and the best materials used.

To support the requirement of the guide featuring on Sony's intranet, a digital 'turn the page' brochure was also produced and supplied by us.

The Sony Broadcast guide was used by CP Cases as an example of how their brand guidelines should be used in future projects, which makes the whole project a further success, and achieved a far greater outcome.

Project Details
Background:

Phonehouse is The Carphone Warehouse Groups European business sector, covering Belgium, France, Germany, Ireland, Netherlands, Portugal, Spain and Sweden.

Project Brief:

We were approached to create branded packaging for Carphone Warehouse European sector, Phonehouse. The packaging was going to be for their Mains and In-car charger accessory range, and was to appear on shelves across Europe.

Our Approach:

With the packaging set to feature across Europe, we decided that a Pan-European design would be the best solution for getting the packaging into all the stores whilst also making it cost effective in production. The challenge of representing the brand across the different countries was considered, as each country adapted their look for their target customers.

Results:

The packaging takes the form of a simple clamshell blister pack with a 'made to fit' tray for each different shaped charger, chosen for its maximum product and graphics visibility, all-round protection and security. The choice to use only a few brand elements of core colour, logo and typography would mean that it would work in all the countries and kept the design simple and considered. We used thematic colour palettes to represent the different manufacture models, and both the front and reverse feature multi language copy, which had been simplified down to maximise the use of clean typography, making it easier to read.

100 prototypes were made before going to production. With craft knifes sharpened and our friends at the local art suppliers on call, we managed to get all 100 delivered on time for the 'mock' store layout for final sign off.

The final packaging features a clear PVC, vacuum-formed shell, with bespoke molded PVC trays for each type of charger within the range, and a 300gsm silk wrap, printed using the corporate blue as a spot colour to emphasize a strong brand presence and to increase consistency throughout Europe.

Project Brief:

Our friends at The Carphone Warehouse asked us to assist and support the in-house design studio on their range review to implement a creative execution for various sales propositions, within the parameters of initial design templates, that would be clean, simple and get the message across.

Our Approach:

Using the new POS designs and templates supplied by Liberation Creative, a specific challenge of promoting a wide range of offers for various categories within these initial designs was set. We used the space within the design templates to bring in various sales propositions; white space, pricing, colour, product imagery and sale driven headlines, complementing each other, giving an open and direct approach to the POS.

Results:

Standing alone, or working together the POS displays a clear, bright and understandable layout, delivering the sales message without having an over complicated design getting in the way. This also allows the customer to take a journey through the stores. The point-of-sale now features nationwide in Carphone Warehouse stores.

Project Brief:

We were asked to create branded packaging for the new and ear-tingling Samsung Galaxy Handset. With the handset being an important model for the tariff's range, they wanted packaging that would highlight the premium nature of the product and do both the product and brand justice.

Our Approach:

With there being a lot of hype around the Samsung Galaxy, we set out to create packaging that would reflect that excitement, combining the other-worldly nature of the Samsung Galaxy visual, alongside that of the Talkmobile brand.

Results:

The resulting design takes inspiration from the product itself, referencing 'Galaxies' and 'Outer space', combining harmoniously with branded elements of colour, typography and graphic swirls.

The Box opens up to reveal the handset inside the manufacturers box, and beside it lies a compartment where the consumer's SIM and starter guide is accessible.

The final design is both quintessentially Talkmobile, adhering to their brand, while at the same time being new and exciting, and, most importantly, different.

Project Brief:

With Geek Squad featuring in many Carphone Warehouse and Best Buy Stores across the country, getting new marketing material and customer messaging across every month is fast paced, and can be a tall order without a reliable team behind it.

Our Approach:

Getting under the skin of the brand and the organisation behind it is key to us as a team. Brand workshops were set out at the start of our relationship and regular meet-ups to discuss the up and coming month were a necessity. Our main aim was to be proactive within the projects, as well as being proactive to their overall business needs. In such a fast paced industry it was vital that consistent and reactive solutions were produced.

Results:

We have created various marketing and graphic solutions for a wide range of briefs, including in-store point of sale, interior graphics and window displays.

Recently, a highlight has been having our work displayed in the window of the new store in Oxford. A 3D effect was put in place, using different levels of depth for the graphical elements, with life size Agent vinyl's, fret-cut lettering and logo, along with a lot of orange paint!!

In addition, the Timeline featured in the London Oxford Street store was a creative approach to demonstrate the history of the company.

Project Brief:

INQ Mobile approached us to create a Christmas message through the platform of email to be sent to the friends of INQ. The design had to be bold and interesting, a reinterpretation of Christmas, reflecting INQ’s projected image & marketing values.

Our Approach:

The task was to highlight the key aspects of the brand and appeal to the broad audience INQ were setting out to deliver their seasonal message to. The challenge was to make this process more engaging for the recipient, something that would encapsulate the ‘fun’ behind the brand and their unique stance within the industry.

Results:

After exploring the different approaches we could take to the brief, we devised an animated email that featured a downloadable ‘make your own’ INQ Santa. The design was clean and simple, using INQ’s core brand of colour and typography, with the unique character illustration moving in from the right. The email featured a ‘Download’ button, allowing the receiver to download an instruction to make their own INQ Santa.

A giant Santa was made which dwarfed his fellow compatriots, further images of this mega Santa’s construction can be seen on our flickr, check it out!

Background:

SIMpleWorld is Talkmobile's new international calls tariff. It offers value calls to 32 destinations, making it easier to say hello your way.

Project Brief:

Following the success of a previous project for ‘Freedom’, Talkmobile asked us to work on refreshing the identity for SIMpleWorld, bringing it more inline with the current branding and market, and to implement this across a campaign strategy that was in place for its re-launch.

Our Approach:

The new identity needed to reflect ‘International Value’, and have the broadest appeal. Initial concepts played with imagery and themes depicting ‘the world is a small place’, and were presented before the final development stages of the design commenced.

Results:

The finished identity portrays a sense of scale, that the world is indeed ‘a small place ’through its use of a 3d globe and giant SIM orbiting its surface, situated before a light purple gradient backdrop. With its clear and simple messaging the identity has real impact.

We produced identity imagery and artworks for use throughout the campaigns schedule and future projects. The campaign launched with a series of outdoor advertisements, POS and flyers as well as an advert in the Carphone Warehouse's 'Price Guide'.

Project Brief:

We approached Treehouse and Get Connected with a brief to create some exclusive non-profit Christmas cards to be sold on their website, with all proceeds going to the charities.

Our Approach:

We decided to forgo the more sombre approach of many charity Christmas cards and go for humour, which we felt would be more appealing to those interested in purchasing cards, thereby helping the charity’s main purpose. With the festive season very much in mind, we looked at creating common links between the festive season and our studio, finding humourous ways we could incorporate tea into the holidays.

Results:

The cards exhibit warm, illustrative humour featuring the perennial Christmas favourites Santa and his reindeer and the Three Kings, all relating to tea, and all with their tongue firmly in their cheek.
