Project Brief:

We were approached by the charity Jubilee Action to pitch creative ideas for a new brand approach that could be utilised for different marketing collateral.

Our Approach:

Given their extensive use of photography in their brand, we decided to use illustration as an alternative to give their brand some distinction from their existing marketing.  While remaining faithful to their message of hope for children from all over the world, and keeping on their brand by putting the children front and center, the illustrations offer something unique to Jubilee. It’s the same message, spoken differently.

Results:

The bright colours contrast against the simple black and white portraits. Keeping the focus entirely on the children, with no complicated designs to get in the way, gives the charity’s patrons something to connect with, not too far removed from the brand they know, but still fresh and different.

TreeHouse / Get Connected
Project Details
Project Brief:

We approached Treehouse and Get Connected with a brief to create some exclusive non-profit Christmas cards to be sold on their website, with all proceeds going to the charities.

Our Approach:

We decided to forgo the more sombre approach of many charity Christmas cards and go for humour, which we felt would be more appealing to those interested in purchasing cards, thereby helping the charity’s main purpose. With the festive season very much in mind, we looked at creating common links between the festive season and our studio, finding humourous ways we could incorporate tea into the holidays.

Results:

The cards exhibit warm, illustrative humour featuring the perennial Christmas favourites Santa and his reindeer and the Three Kings, all relating to tea, and all with their tongue firmly in their cheek.

The Carphone Warehouse
Project Details
Background:

The Carphone Warehouse were entering the ‘Wireless World’, offering new services of ‘Home’ and ‘Mobile’ broadband.

Project Brief:

Our friends at Carphone Warehouse asked to bring ‘Wireless World’ to life, devising a fresh new look for retail communications for ‘Home’ and ‘Mobile’ broadband products.

Our Approach:

Our solution was to create a visually engaging identity for further marketing strategies. It was important for the new look to grab the attention of potential first time broadband buyers, as for some this can seem a daunting task, but still be informative for those who may be looking to switch their service provider.

Results:

A buzzing town connected to the big wide world, while laptops graze in the fields. Our work focused around creating a dynamic visual to capture the essence of connectivity that having great broadband brings. Using subtle reference to the different providers, bold colours and quirky illustrative forms, we devised a warm, illustrative backdrop for the Wireless World to grow.

The illustration featured across a three page spread in their Buyers Guide.

Project Brief:

When the lovely people at Baboonylon asked us to create a brand identity for them, their zest and enthusiasm for sky diving captivated the studio.

Our Approach:

Emphasising the passion and vitality of Baboonylon, we set out to design an identity that would reflect the personality, enthusiasm and dynamism of the team.

Results:

Using expressive and friendly typography, along with the creation of a mascot named Papio; a manic sky diving Baboon donning the colours of the team, a bold and contemporary identity was created. Papio was developed by continuously returning to the sketchbook and removing any complexity, creating a modern and stylised character, which was developed in several different poses for marketing materials.

The character was embraced by the Baboonylon team instantly, creating T-shirts and tops adorned with Papio, which were worn during their jumps, winning the best dressed team in their debut year in the process.
