A big welcome to our new client, Penta Foods. They are one of the global leaders in food logistics, and we will be working with them on a nice new website in the upcoming months.
New member of tea*
Having read our battered studio copy of Computer Arts Projects, centering on illustration and character design, I was inspired to create my own. The character-centric issue has interviews and articles on the likes of Jared Nickerson and James Jarvis, plus tutorials and advice from loads of others, and so with a pad and pen, I set to work.
Playing around in Illustrator, from a series of doodles I did earlier, I came up with our little teamonkey. I tried making the character much more simple, straight and even in Illustrator, but something wasn’t quite right. I then followed the doodle much more closely, keeping the rough outlines in place, and the character seemed to come off the page much easier. The rough look of the sketch gives the teamonkey a little bit more character, and makes him seem warmer and likeable.
The doodle of the teamonkey is now up on our Process page. How long he’ll be up there I don’t know, but I’m sure we’ll see the little guy pop up somewhere in the future!
